About Harbour Town

The Town of Harbour Town

Harbour Town is the true heartbeat of Hilton Head Island and The Sea Pines Resort, and a “must stop” if you are in the area. You’ll know you are here when you see the famous red and white striped Harbour Town Lighthouse that marks the Calibogue Sound channel entrance into the Harbour Town Yacht Basin. Harbour Town offers an intimate and relaxing setting where you can simply sit in a wooden rocking chair and ponder the beautiful yachts in the harbour. Or, Harbour Town features over 20 independently owned and operated clothing boutiques, gift and craft galleries, jewelry stores, independent art galleries, and souvenir beach shops. Dine harbourside at a variety of indoor and outdoor venues. And come ready to play, as you can choose from a variety of water sports like parasailing, waverunning, kayaking, and powerboating, as well as fishing charters, pirate ship & sight-seeing cruises, and up-close dolphin tours.

Harbour Town Yacht Basin

Harbour Town Yacht Basin was originally built in 1969, and was modeled after the harbour in Portofino, Italy. It was built to attract mariners to Hilton Head Island, and to introduce prospective buyers to the newly developed Sea Pines Plantation. With only 100 slips, Harbour Town Yacht Basin offers an intimate marina in a world-class resort setting.

Harbour Town Lighthouse

South Carolina’s famous Harbour Town Lighthouse was built between 1969 and 1970. It is over 90 feet tall and has the signature red and white stripes encircling it. The tower overlooks the Calibogue Sound and provides a spectacular backdrop to the Harbour Town Yacht Basin and the 18th green of the Harbour Town Golf Links.

Join us at the top for a breathtaking view. For a small fee (children 5 and under are free), you can climb the 100 stairs to the top of the tower for a breathtaking view of the Calibogue Sound and the Yacht Basin. Once there, you can enjoy the Lowcountry’s best views and the Island’s most elevated shopping experience at the Top of the Lighthouse Shop & Museum. To learn more, call (843) 671-2810.
